Max
After 3 long weeks in the vets Max is now in foster care and rehabilitation!
After being attacked by 2 dogs and having his back broken and intestines perforated, leaving his back end paralyzed, this sweet boy is ready to start the long hard road of what we hope will be recovery. His chances are not great for full recovery but one of the hind legs is showing some response and so there is a chance and that is enough for us to go all in to help this gorgeous kitty!
We will start by rebuilding the muscles in his back legs which have deteriorated… this is done through massage and exercise as well as muscle memory training. To start with we will only do 5 minute workouts several times a day as we don’t want to cause him any distress and as he gets stronger those will get longer and more intense.
He is managing to drag himself to the pee pad to pee and after 2 weeks of being manually expressed he is able to empty his bladder on his own. Defecating is a little bit more difficult but he is mostly managing on his own and that will improve as his muscles get stronger but he does need to be on a special high fiber diet to help the process.
